The summer issue of the feminist magazine Astra focused on the theme Masculinities. Our Head of Programme, Malin Bergström, who has been leading our Masculinities porgramme since 2019, was published in the summer edition. Her article looked at the shared forums for experiences and stories about masculinities on the cultural field, with a focus on Finland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
”What expectations make it difficult for men to talk to each other about issues such as sex, intimacy and relationships? What forums are there for men to read and talk about feelings? Taking in the stories of others and then critically reflecting on one’s own life is the central tool for change in feminist discussion groups for men. What literature can men turn to if they want to get beyond traditional gender norms?”
These questions and more will be addressed by the panel at the Helsinki Book Fair. Please note the panel discussion is part of the Swedish Programme and will take place in Swedish.

Den feministiska tidskriften Astras sommarnummer hade tema Maskuliniteter. Vilka förväntningar försvårar för män att prata med varandra om frågor som sex, intimitet och relationer? Vilka forum finns det för män att läsa och tala om känslor? Att ta del av andras berättelser och sedan kritiskt reflektera över sitt eget liv är det centrala verktyget för förändring inom feministiska samtalsgrupper för män. Vilken litteratur kan män vända sig till om de vill komma bortom traditionella könsnormer?
