Vi är ännu bara i februari men jag kan inte hjälpa att jag vill blicka framåt mot allt som kommer att hända i maj! Ett program som är särskilt spännande för mig är Svenska kulturfondens praktikantträff eftersom det är vi på Finlands Beneluxinstitut som i år har äran att agera värd för träffen. Jag ser väldigt mycket fram emot att få träffa de andra praktikanterna och att få höra om deras erfarenheter av utlandspraktiken.
Lite synd är det ju nog att jag själv inte reser någon annanstans, men det betyder bara att jag får en möjlighet att återuppleva underbara Bryssel! Även om vi bara är i planeringsskedet för träffen så har det varit kul att fundera på vilka delar av staden jag vill introducera till praktikanterna, det vill säga alla de bästa delarna av staden som stavas Manneken Pis hem. Jag hoppas de andra praktikanterna är lika taggade som jag på att få gå på alla de fina gatorna och se med egna ögon de vackra muraler som finns runtom staden, samt smaka på mina personliga (inte alls överraskande!) belgiska favoriter: franskisar och våfflor!

It’s still only February, but I can’t help but look forward to all that will happen in May! One programme that is particularly exciting for me is the Svenska kulturfonden interns meet, as we at the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux have the honour of hosting the meeting this year. I’m very much looking forward to meeting the other interns and hearing about their experiences of their internship abroad.
It’s a bit of a shame that I won’t be travelling anywhere else myself, but that just means I’ll have an opportunity to relive wonderful Brussels! Even though we’re only in the planning stages of the meeting, it’s been fun to think about which parts of the city I want to introduce to the interns, i.e. all the best parts of the city that is Manneken Pis’ home. I hope the other interns are as excited as I am to walk all the great streets and see for themselves the beautiful murals around the city, as well as taste my personal (unsurprisingly!) Belgian food favourites: french fries and waffles!
