Energy Bodies Curated by Rosa de Graaf & Niina Tervo Now On Display at SIC, Helsinki 1.4. – 7.5.2023

Avr 4, 2023 | 2023, News

SIC presents Energy Bodies, an exhibition exploring the energetic relationships between the body and emotions:

“Drawing on understandings of energy within various practices, from holistic healing and neurology to the study of natural elements and bodily matter, the exhibition leads with a seemingly simple question: What happens to an emotion once it leaves the body?”

The exhibition features works by five artists: Joana Escoval (PT), Niina Tervo (FI), Alvaro Ugarte (MX), and Rosario Zorraquin (AR). The starting point for the artworks is an expanded notion of the body: a concept which takes into account both the physical and the ephemeral aspects of the body. The artists are invited to view the world through the lens of energy and to tune into it as a medium of communication and expression.

Energy Bodies is curated by SIC gallery’s Niina Tervo, together with Rosa de Graaf (UK/NL), a curator and writer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The exhibition is supported by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux.

Energy Bodies is on display 1.4. – 7.5.2023 at SIC, Helsinki. The gallery is located at Malmi Old Station, Vanha Helsingintie 24.
