Taking steps for a more sustainable and socially equitable environment for the practice of art and culture

Mar 27, 2023 | News

Equity and responsibility are central to the Institute’s strategy.  Over the past year, we have worked together on re-evaluating our work and finding concrete solutions and actions together, with all staff members and interns involved in the process.

In 2022, we organised six workshops dedicated to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and collected data on our carbon emissions in order to have a clearer view of our current situation and where we need to improve.

« We are working on a new strategy for 2024–2026 and the gathered information helps us to strive towards creating a more sustainable and socially equitable environment for the practice of art and culture. » shares Institute Director, Laura Boxberg.

« It has been so important to dedicate time to further educating ourselves on these topics. Reflecting on our own prejudices and learned behaviours, while discovering how to create a safer environment in which to discuss and deconstruct, has been confronting at times. But this process has been key in helping us grow as a team and in taking responsibility in our work. » shares Ela Suleymangil, Communications Officer at the Institute.
