The latest artist supported by the TelepART Mobility Support is a contemporary circus and performance artist Miradonna Sirkka who is staying in the Netherlands for a 6-week residency. The residency is part of SEA Foundation’s longer-term research on art and sustainability and their project focusing on the Happiness. Her video artwork ‘Living Like There is No Tomorrow’ will be exhibited from the 25th of February until the 27th of March. Sirkka will also present a performance called ‘The Physicality of Happiness’ during her residency, on 16th of March. Both the exhibition and the performance are free and open to everyone.

MIRADONNA SIRKKA

Miradonna Sirkka is a circus and performance artist, director and performer based in Helsinki and the Northern Finland. She works with human bodies, plastic tubes, texts, awkwardness and audience-performer relationship, specializing in site-specific and interactive works. The works usually take the form of a performance or media art installation. Miradonna Sirkka holds a BA degree in circus arts (Turku Arts Academy) and MA degree in Visual Culture and Curating Contemporary art (Aalto University). She is also a co-founder of the Finnish multidisciplinary art company Recover Laboratory, which is a platform for surreal art experiences. Miradonna Sirkka has been performing and directing contemporary circus performances since 2014 widely in Finland and abroad and has also published articles about contemporary art. Her work has been supported by Finnish Cultural FoundationSamuel Huber foundationArts Promotion Center FinlandCirko – Center for new Circus and Helsinki City.

SEA Foundation is an artist-led contemporary art network who acts as a catalyst in the working lives of the artists. Their mission is to create awareness for contemporary art and to build cultural resilience. The visual arts are at the core of their activities, still crossing the boundaries between disciplines and putting the context and the idea before the medium. SEA Foundation is well embedded at the local level. Through exchanges, collaborations and working in different cultural contexts they are also part of international networks. They strive to generate and participate in discussions on sustainability-related issues.
