TelepART: January 2024

Jan 24, 2024 | 2024, News, TelepART

In January, support from the TelepART Mobility Support Platform allocated by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux goes to:

Kallo Collective’s performance of The Receptionists at Het Nationale Theater, The Hague, Netherlands.

The Receptionists is a physical comedy show about customer service by two Finnish female clowns. The aesthetically pleasing performance takes familiar situations and runs them on with clown logic. With exceptionally skilled smiling and some nifty acrobatics the clown duo shows just how comical and absurd customer service can get. The many (non existing) languages spoken at the reception makes the performance as cross-culturally welcoming as a five-star hotel.

Kallo Collective is an award-winning physical theatre and contemporary circus company focused on non-verbal productions with comedy at their core. Since 2010 the company’s performances have charmed their audiences touring on 5 different continents. Kallo Collective aims to champion the art of physical based humour by producing a wide range of productions, teaching workshops, and producing NouNous Festival – an annual international festival of physical comedy in Helsinki. The company was founded 2009 by Finnish artists Jenni Kallo, Sampo Kurppa and a New Zealander Thom Monckton who all have background in circus. They all studied at the famous school of Jacques Lecoq in Paris. The company has produced 16 productions and tours actively internationally. 2020 company was awarded with the State prize for circus.
