DISAPPEARING – A PASSION / KATOAMINEN – PASSIO

TARI DORIS, MERI EKOLA, KID KOKKO

In Disappearing – a passion, rigid norms and structures disappear and make way for a space offering shelter and room for all to breathe. A stunningly powerful and empowering current of sound meanders through the performance and intertwines with sculpturally ravishing light and undulating mist.

A passion, an organ concert, humming of ice, movement of glaciers; so tiny, so invisible, so enormous. These movements. All these movements. And then: everything is different. Now, everything is different.

In the performance, both the text and the performer are in constant transition, in flux. On stage, a beanbag is also an ocean, a cagoule the wind, a bin bag is both alive and wonderful. The work is bright and soft, pompous, and approachable. Everything disappears only to have room to become something else.

The work was commissioned for A I S T I T / coming to our senses – contemporary arts exhibition. An evolving programme of exhibitions and performances taking place in five European cities in 2021 and 2022 led by The Finnish Institutes in the Benelux, France, Germany, and the UK and Ireland.
