TelepART: August 2024

Août 8, 2024 | 2024, News, TelepART

In August, support from the TelepART Mobility Support Platform allocated by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux goes to:

Muddiverse for their performances of Charge in Helsinki, Finland.

The site-specific dance performance Charge researches ways of charging and embodies a human battery. The dance piece gets its inspiration from superheroes, electro-acoustic and techno music (specifically the techno hit Pump up the Jam by Technotronic), exhaustion of body and mind, euphoria of dance, Formula 1 and acceleration, video games and trancelike repetition – from energy that (re)creates energy. The work scrutinises the unsustainable Western energy production at large and searches for playful ways to be its own bionic light and fleshy battery.

Charge is situated at Parrulaituri around the contemporary sculpture Big-Be Hide by Alicja Kwade. The sculpture functions as a portal to other dimensions, as well as a solid co-performer. The location of Parrulaituri in the urban Kalasatama area in Helsinki is situated at a meeting point of the energy producer Helen, rough urban city planning and the sea.

The artists form an international working group, coming together from various countries and local fields to charge together in movement.
