“In Swole I document both my dedication to health and fitness, in terms of nutrition and diet, as well as the communities surrounding these activities who share messages, videos and photos on social media. I’m learning the vocabulary of my new community.”

Artist Artor Jesus Inkerö (1989, Finland) lives in Amsterdam and works with moving image and photography. With the ‘holistic bodily project’ Inkerö attempts to transform himself to reflect the most generic version of contemporary masculinity. By adopting masculine codes and characteristics, Inkerö explores matters such as control, power, safety and privilege.

Re/defining Masculinities is a project by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux that aims to present and discuss the subject of masculinities from new and cross-disciplinary perspectives, through a series of cultural events and academic discussions realised in Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland.

The RE/defining Masculinities is part of the Cultural Programme for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The screening is shown in collaboration with Beursschouwburg.
