{"id":22897,"date":"2026-06-22T15:11:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T13:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/finncult.be\/?p=22897"},"modified":"2026-06-22T15:37:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T13:37:04","slug":"annual-report-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/finncult.be\/nl\/annual-report-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Explore the 2025 Annual Report of the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2025 was a year of creating and growing sustainable connections and meaningful societal dialogue, through an ambitious programme of international collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>We collaborated on<strong> 54<\/strong> events reaching over <strong>34,500<\/strong> people:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>21<\/strong> performances (theatre, dance, circus, music, etc.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>12<\/strong> networking or mentoring events<\/li>\n<li><strong>8<\/strong> discussions or workshops<\/li>\n<li><strong>6<\/strong> exhibitions<\/li>\n<li><strong>6<\/strong> internal collaborative events<\/li>\n<li><strong>1<\/strong> study trip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In 2025 we had:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>143 <\/strong>meetings held with cultural professionals<\/li>\n<li><strong>139<\/strong> cultural professionals supported<\/li>\n<li><strong>43<\/strong> partners in Finland and Benelux<\/li>\n<li><strong>30,145<\/strong> website visits<\/li>\n<li><strong>1,882<\/strong> newsletter subscribers<\/li>\n<li><strong>25<\/strong> media hits<\/li>\n<li><strong>87<\/strong> students enrolled in Finnish language courses across five levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Highlights included <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/pARTir-FINNCULTBLX-Impact-Report-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>pARTir \u2013 Creating a Cultural Roadmap Towards Responsible International Mobility<\/em><\/a>, a project supporting artists&#8217; international mobility, work, and cultural export and exchange. Through <em>pARTir<\/em>, the Institute collaborated on four major productions, three of which were realised in the Netherlands in 2025:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen<\/strong>&#8217;s solo exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/jenni-juulia-wallinheimo-heimonen-when-i-grow-up-i-will-become-a-coat-rack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>When I grow up, I will become a coat rack<\/em><\/a> at 1646 \u2013 Experimental Art Space in The Hague<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teo Ala-Ruona<\/strong> and working group&#8217;s performance <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/a-gothic-carnival-of-flesh-and-voice-teo-ala-ruonas-parachorale-debuts-in-the-netherlands-this-may\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Parachorale<\/em><\/a> at Vleeshal in Middelburg<\/li>\n<li><strong>WAUHAUS<\/strong>&#8216; performance <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/unveiling-renaissance-wauhaus-dutch-debut-at-spring-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Renaissance<\/em><\/a> at the Spring Performing Arts Festival in Utrecht<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22906 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025-pARTir.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025-pARTir.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025-pARTir-1280x905.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025-pARTir-980x693.jpg 980w, https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025-pARTir-480x339.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 2000px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also collaborated with the Finnish Art &amp; Media Culture Agency M-Cult and Amsterdam-based contemporary art space Metro54 on the project <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/everyday-priorities-art-technology-and-accommodations-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Everyday Priorities \u2013 Art, Technology, and Accommodations<\/em><\/a>, a series of gatherings and new artistic commissions exploring equity, access, and new artistic practices with <strong>Flis Holland<\/strong> and<strong> Joy Mariama Smith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We supported <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/jenna-sutelas-first-solo-exhibition-in-the-netherlands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Ave bossa, bow ole<\/em><\/a>, the first solo exhibition of <strong>Jenna Sutela<\/strong> in the Netherlands, presented by Stroom Den Haag ahead of Sutela\u2019s participation in the Pavilion of Finland at the 61st International Art Exhibition \u2013 La Biennale di Venezia.<\/p>\n<p>We coordinated a <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/participants-selected-for-visual-arts-study-trip-to-amsterdam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visual arts study trip to the Netherlands<\/a> for Finnish and Finland-based visual art curators and museum professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Together with the Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes Association (SKTI), we organised the <a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/culture-policy-and-accountability-finnish-cultural-and-academic-institutes-gather-in-brussels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">institute network&#8217;s spring days in Brussels<\/a>, strengthening ties between the institute network, policymakers, and local art organisations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/finncult.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Suomen-Benelux-instituutti-vuosikertomus-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read our full Annual Report in Finnish.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A huge thank you to everyone that we collaborated with!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cover image: Teo Ala-Ruona\u2019s performance <em>Parachorale<\/em> at Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art, 2025.
