From 4 to 15 March 2026, Polarise Nordic Film Nights<\/a> returns to Brussels with a powerful selection of films with a connecting thread of struggle, identity, and women\u2019s rights. Celebrating its fifth edition this year, the Brussels-based festival \u2014 screening at Cinema Aventure<\/a> and Cinema Galeries<\/a> \u2014 has carved out a unique space for Nordic cinema in the Belgian capital, bringing stories from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Greenland, Finland, Norway, and S\u00e1pmi that rarely find their way onto Belgian screens. This year’s programme is arguably its most politically charged and emotionally rich yet: a journey through revolution, identity, resilience, and the price we pay for so-called progress.<\/p>\n

The Institute is delighted to support the Polarise Nordic Film Nights initiative and the screening of 100 Liters of Gold<\/em> by Teemu Nikki<\/strong>, the acclaimed filmmaker from Finland!<\/p>\n

About 100 Liters of Gold<\/em><\/h2>\n

In a small village in southern Finland, the middle-aged sisters Taina and Pirkko are famous for brewing the best Sahti, a traditional local beer. After a Sahti tasting gone awry, the two embark on a hangover mission of getting 100 litres of the golden beverage in 24 hours. This Finnish comedy depicts the peculiarities of Finnish communication, while also posing some thought-provoking questions.<\/p>\n

Teemu Nikki<\/h3>\n

Teemu Nikki is a director and screenwriter whose stories dive into the deepest questions of humanity through good-natured but unapologetic satire. He usually directs, writes, and sometimes also edits his films. Nikki\u2019s feature film, 100 Liters of Gold<\/em> (2025), is the number one domestic box office hit of 2025 in Finland. His probably most unique feature film, The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic<\/em> (2021), has won numerous international awards, including the Audience Award at the 78th Venice Film Festival. Nikki has directed eight feature films, four series with multiple seasons, and over 18 short films which have also enjoyed great success around the world.<\/p>\n
