FAIR P(L)AY is a cycle initiated by the EUNIC-NL<\/a> cluster focusing on fair practices in the cultural sector, aiming to discuss and implement new and existing ways of creating fair environments in terms of funding, remuneration, copyright and mobility in Europe.<\/p>\n

The first event will take place on April 5th at 15.00 at AMARE<\/a>, a brand new space in The Hague devoted to arts, home of Nederlands Dans Theater<\/a>, Residentie Orkest<\/a>, the Royal Conservatoire<\/a> and of the former Zuiderstrandtheater<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Efforts to improve the changeable and often precarious position of professionals in the cultural sector and creative industry are underway in Europe, whether on the national or on the EU level. The COVID-19 crisis had a clear impact on art and culture throughout Europe, and especially on the individual maker. While the infrastructures vary from country to country, several initiatives have been launched throughout Europe over the past years, aiming to raise awareness and establish fair practices among stakeholders.<\/p>\n

How to connect these initiatives and ensure that their recommendations are applied within the cultural sector on a European level? What can European institutions learn from it? Furthermore, since digital technologies have transformed the way creative content is produced, distributed and accessed, how do these initiatives take into account the new European Copyright Directive, which Member States are currently in the process of transposing nationally?
\nThese and more questions will be touched upon by an international group of panellists representing various European initiatives advocating for fair practices, as well as a representative of the European commission.<\/p>\n
