KAIKU - installation by Aaro Murphy and Anna Karhu-Cormier

Annankatu 11, Helsinki

Design installation 'Kaiku' is a collaboration between Amsterdam-based visual artist Aaro Murphy & Helsinki-based artist and herbalist Anna Karhu-Cormier, merging together their individual practices in the realms of sound and scent. The installation is on show in Helsinki from 09.09 until 26.09.21, and forms part of Helsinki Design Week.

'Kaiku' or 'Echo' is an acoustic-olfactory instrument that performs autonomously in its own time, slowly releasing scent and sound into the space it occupies. Like a living breathing ecosystem, this machine creates its own rhythm and olfactory architecture – producing a symbiotic landscape of scent and sound.

Both artists will be present to present their work on the opening day, and during the first weekend.

On Thursday the 23rd of September, you are very welcome to take part in the Artist Talk, in which Aaro Murphy and Anna Karhu-Cormier will dig deeper into this projects, as well as their other projects.
