The intercultural and antiracist platform #StopHatredNow takes place during 15-19 May 2023.<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The theme for this year is Rooting Change. The Finnish Cultural Institute is excited to be a partner for #SHN2023!<\/p>\n

Organised in mid-May, #StopHatredNow is the product of the collaboration of several art and cultural organisations, creating discourse on diversity, inclusivity, power structures, otherness, and intersectional feminist strategies.<\/p>\n

This time #StopHatredNow plants the seeds of change and uproots obstacles in the way of a more inclusive and intersectional art and culture field.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year we focus on rooting structural change, to get the art field committed to persistent and long-term equity work\u201d, Sonya Lindfors<\/strong>, the Artistic Director of #StopHatredNow comments.<\/p>\n

The week includes keynotes, lectures, workshops, discussions, and artistic outcomes. Anyone can enjoy the remarkable programme, as most of the events will be held online via Zoom and the events are also streamed on the #StopHatredNow website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Institutional Day – 15.5.2023<\/h3>\n

The first day of #StopHatredNow, the 15th of May, is aimed especially at those working in different cultural institutions. Monday’s programme introduces useful tools and encourages conversations on the responsibilities of institutions. How to move institutional equity work from project-based to core mission? And what can be done to ensure the accessibility of culture? Experts discussing the topics include artist Abi Tariq<\/strong>, the co-founder and chairperson of Anti-Racist Forum (ARF) Amiirah Salleh-Hoddin<\/strong>, arts advisor Koko Hubara<\/strong> from Art Promotion Centre Finland and others.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, 14:30-16:00 (EEST), the Belgium based poet, writer, workshop coordinator and dramaturg Aur\u00e9lie Disasi<\/strong> will facilitate the session Unveiling your institutional blueprint: A discussion on institutional pasts and culture<\/em>! Spaces are limited, so make sure to sign up<\/a> as soon as possible! Registration closes on the 14th of May.<\/p>\n

Aur\u00e9lie Disasi<\/strong> also known as Aru Lee<\/strong> (They\/them) is a queer multi-disciplinary artist that uses their background in Interior Architecture, and poetry to facilitate workshops around the concepts of Safer Spaces, intersectionality and inclusion with a focus on anti-racism. Aru has worked in the arts and cultural sector for over 10 years navigating as poet, a writer, and more recently as a dramaturg and researcher. And before we forget! You may remember the powerful Whiteness <\/em>workshop hosted by Lehmus Murtomaa<\/strong> that was part of our Healing and Dealing programme<\/a> last year. You can take part in the workshop during #SHN2023 on the 15th May at 17:00\u201318:30 (EEST) at Caisa.<\/p>\n

Other speakers featured in #StopHatredNow 2023 include, for example, the co-founder and director of Contemporary Art Archipelago (CAA) Taru Elfving<\/strong>, writer and artist Isa Hukka<\/strong>, author and comedian Raisa Omaheimo<\/strong>, artist Julian Owusu<\/strong>, and the founding member and executive director of Accesso Cultura Maria Vlachou<\/strong>. Also during the week, various workshops will be facilitated: Julia Hsiao-Pei Liao<\/strong> will offer concrete advice for those dealing with Migri, Francisco Trento<\/strong> invites participants to conspire together against ableism, and Sonya Lindfors and Sophia Wekesa<\/strong> offer self-help for striving feminists.<\/p>\n

The events are mainly held in English, but some of the programme will be held in Finnish. The language of each event is marked clearly in the schedule. Some events will be print interpreted, which is also stated clearly in the schedule.<\/p>\n

#StopHatredNow is a platform that works for a diverse and tolerant Finland. The event is organised by several art institutes and intercultural and anti-racist organisations. The platform focuses on communality, empowerment, collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and resources. The platform was created to be long-term, and it can host events of various forms.
