As a central country within the comics field, Belgium can offer a wide variety of events and content for those interested in comics and the comics industry. Every year the EUNIC network in Brussels partakes in the comics festival Fête de la Bande Dessinée in Brussels, as a large collaboration between the different international institutes and embassies in Brussels and the city of Brussels. The EUNIC network has their own designated area at the festival to present their artists and comics professionals.

The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux will participate in this year’s Fête de la BD by bringing two comics creators, H-P Lehkonen and Eelis Nilukka Torvinen, from Finland to the festival.

H-P Lehkonen is a professional webcomics artist and a lecturer. He's work has been published by LINE Webtoon since 2015. His print comic Short Gay Stories won the PRISM Award in 2017. His work centers LGBT issues. His newest comic, After the Fog, he's working on, is about a polyamorous family losing one person to cancer. In spring 2019 he started a project called Queerwebcomic.com where he publishes short stories by various marginalised authors.

Eelis Nilukka is a comic artist from Finland. His main project is a long-form sci-fi/drama webcomic BSandL (find it on Tapas.io and Webtoons.com). He also has lots of recipes for short stories and might actually bake one of them into a comic when he is given a deadline.
